About North Augusta, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
As one may easily glean from its name, North Augusta is just north of Augusta, Georgia. However, it is in South Carolina. While it shares Augusta’s beautiful weather and lovely culture, it was built in the 20th century and is different in many ways from a lot of the towns in the area. So, how did it come about? In 1902, James U. Jackson developed the plans for 600 acres that would someday make up North Augusta. He met considerable criticism but pushed on with his plans. He hired the best designers and city planners he could find, traveled to New York to get business backing and built a new bridge to North Augusta.
The best portions of the historical influences remain in North Augusta today. But, it is not an old southern town in the way that some of the other local cities and towns are. Having been built later, it has a more modern outlook and the architecture is much different from the pre-war homes and buildings you will find elsewhere. North Augusta offers its inhabitants all of the benefits of a big city life without many of the downfalls like noise, crime, and larger school. It retains a small town charm that makes the 20,000 residents glad to call it home. But, just a quick drive over the river gets you to Augusta where you can shop, dine, dance and play all day and night… then go home when you are ready for some peace and quiet.
North Augusta, like Augusta, is situated along the Savannah River. This gives visitors and locals lots of water sport opportunities. There are also lots of local fishing tournaments and events that center on the beautiful waterway. Visit the big city should you have time. Riverwalk Augusta allows people to walk right along the river and is romantic and stunning all throughout the year. Year round, whether it’s a sunlit summer day or a cool, midwinter’s dawn, Augusta has the park or recreational goings-on for anyone and everyone. With an average temperature of 62.7 degrees throughout the year, the weather is always perfect.
